Children all across the land from the mountains to the sea, particularly young girls of a  “garçon manqué” inclination, know the story of Mabel. Receving a holy visitation on the eve of her 16th birthday, when she was due to be married off the very next day, she was told that she would be granted 5 miracles (of which the visitation was the first) These would give her her freedom but also enable her to save the realm.
They giggle nervously as the second miracle makes a storm wash away the bridge her coach is on, out of the clutches of her unwelcome husband to be, sit restlessly as they hear how the third miracle happens when she startles a great white stag whilst out hunting, only for the stag to distract an assassin with his sights on the King.
They gasp as the King rewards her by knighting her, despite her tender years and sex, and grin excitedly as she spends her fourth miracle on the battlefield, when she and her trusted squire Romane lead a heavily outnumbered force to rout an invading orc warband.
But most of all, in every village across the kingdom they jump up and down, and join in at the top of their lungs, when they are once more told of her battlecry used time after time in  the great war against chaos. “Do not fear my brothers, follow me to victory, for I still have one miracle left!”
